Royale Airlines was a regional/commuter airline. Royale operated scheduled passenger flights in the southeast United States from the 1960s to the late 1980s. It flew the Embraer Bandeirante, Beechcraft 99 and the Gulfstream G-1. Royale also flew two DC-9s on services from Houston primarily to Brownsville, TX on behalf of Continental Airlines. From 1985 and 1986 Royale also operated de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otters. Royale codeshared with Continental Airlines and provided passenger feed at Continental's Houston hub during the final years of operation prior to its bankruptcy Chapter 11 filing on Sept. 9, 1987.
